Bulgaria offers two kinds of holiday location: the Black Sea coast around Varna, Burgas, Nessebar and Sozopol, and the mountains around Bansko and Borovets. Prices are among the lowest in the EU, and since 1 January 2026 the country has used the euro.

EU citizens buy buildings and land on the same terms as residents. Buyers from outside the EU may acquire an apartment or a house but not the land beneath it; for that they usually set up a Bulgarian company. The deed of sale is signed before a notary and entered in the property register.
