Denmark. Home by the sea.

Denmark has more than 7,000 kilometres of coastline. Best known are the summer houses on the North Sea coast of Jutland between Skagen and Rømø, on Bornholm and along the Baltic. Many of them are let to holidaymakers for part of the year.

One Danish particularity is worth knowing before buying: anyone who does not live in Denmark and has not lived there for at least five years needs permission from the Ministry of Justice. For summer houses it is granted only in exceptional cases. Anyone who lives in Denmark or moves there buys an apartment or house as a main residence without this hurdle. Title is recorded in the digital land register.
