Malta. Home by the sea.

English as an official language, the euro, a mild climate and short distances across three islands.

Malta, Gozo and Comino lie in the middle of the Mediterranean between Sicily and North Africa. English is an official language alongside Maltese, the currency is the euro, and even the winter is mild. Demand centres on apartments in Sliema, St. Julian's and along the north coast, and on Gozo on old limestone farmhouses.

Anyone who has not lived in Malta for at least five years usually needs a permit to buy, the Acquisition of Immovable Property Permit, and may then generally hold only one property. The exception are the Special Designated Areas, large developments such as Tigné Point or Portomaso, where foreign nationals buy without this permit. The deed of sale is drawn up by a notary.
